Why is Sexism Still Ok?

Imagine if a woman who was a mother of two had slept with dozens of prostitutes while away on work. Would she be welcomed and cheered back four months later? Tiger Woods was.

Imagine if a woman cheated on her movie star husband after five years of marriage with a tattoo covered porn star. Would sex rehab be a good enough penitence for her to save her marriage or would she be deemed a slut for life? I haven’t heard Jessie James be called a whore.

Imagine if the boys accusing the Catholic Church of sexual assault/harassment were told that they were just jealous of the priests and that they had just made the whole thing up by lawmakers of both parties. Would society allow that? They did with Anita Hill.

Imagine if a Christian man were 77 cents to the dollar of a Jewish man in America for equal work. Would the Christian political groups cry unfair? They aren’t for women (African-American women are paid 63 cents to the dollar and Hispanic women are paid 52 cents to the dollar.)

Imagine if the University of Connecticut decided that since the women’s team has been more successful than the men then from now on only women could play basketball. Would this be allowed? Apparently it is it still ok for Augusta National Golf Course to not allow women to be members because of their sex.

Why is it ok that two churches have been cut from Georgia Baptist Convention not because of lack of parishioners, but because they are taught by women? Galatians 3:26-29 says “All of you are God's children because of your faith in Christ Jesus. And when you were baptized, it was as though you had put on Christ in the same way you put on new clothes. Faith in Christ Jesus is what makes each of you EQUAL with each other, whether you are a Jew or a Greek, a slave or a free person, a man or a woman. So if you belong to Christ, you are now part of Abraham's family, and you will be given what God has promised.” (emphasis mine)

I don’t think I’m being a liberal for saying this. Sexism is still alive and well in our country. Why are we still ok with our nation’s mothers and daughters to be treated this way? I know this isn’t my most articulate post ever. These are just thoughts I’ve had and wanted to get them out there. I may add more later. God Bless
